Memo from the Boss.

Hi All, please see below advice in relation to travel on Maralinga Tjarutja Lands.

The easing of current lockdown restrictions for specific staff, contractors on Maralinga Tjarutja Lands including Oak Valley Community (MT lands)

Current MTOV restrictions commenced 00:01 Tuesday 20th July 2021 for 14 days, ending midnight Monday 2nd August 2021, depending on the incidence of community transmission of Covid-19 in South Australia.

There is no change to the ongoing Maralinga Tjarutja Lands permit – Any person excluding the local aboriginal population, wanting to enter MT lands has to apply for a permit and if the permit application is approved, that person to complete phone in screening check three days prior to proposed entry and applicant responsible for daily check of SA Health Covid-19 website for updates including on the day of permit approved entry date*.

On 3rd August, if no changes, we continue with the permit system and 3 day check-in and adhere to current SA Level 3 restrictions with additional components for Aboriginal communities relating to masks, density, hand and respiratory hygiene, avoiding close contact with community members (excludes urgent health care provision). Maralinga Tours will resume on 4 August if no changes to the current SA COVID situation.

Easing of restrictions for some staff worker travel

IF no further community transmission of Covid-19 within SA or related health Alert and if adherent with MT permit conditions above*.

  • Oak Valley community staff, contractors essential and non-essential who are on MT lands and have been for previous 14 days,  may travel to Ceduna District Council area and return to Oak Valley prior to midnight Monday 2nd August 2021, if they have not left the Ceduna District Council area and fulfill permit, phone screening requirements
  • Any Oak Valley community staff, contractors who travel beyond the Ceduna District Council area, wanting to enter MT lands, Oak Valley before midnight Monday 2nd August, may be unable to enter.
  • Each individual will be reviewed by Oak Valley Health Service during their three-day prior entry phone in screening and further advice from SA Health may be required before entry can be considered.

Thank you

Regards,
