The following information is taken from the Dept. of Defence Website. If you are planning a trip incorporating the Anne Beadell Hwy, this will affect you if you are planning to travel during the dates mentioned below.
Cancellation of exclusion period – Amber Zone 2 – Corridor (including part of the Anne Beadell Highway)
The Department of Defence is cancelling the exclusion period in the Woomera Prohibited Area for Amber Zone 2 – Corridor (including part of the Anne Beadell Highway) between 26 November and 9 December 2019 (inclusive).
Permit holders will no longer be required to evacuate the Amber Zone 2 area during this period. A map of the zones within the Woomera Prohibited Area is attached for reference.
Note: The previously notified exclusion period for Amber Zone 2 for the period 3 to 30 March 2020 (inclusive) remains in force.
Exclusion periods to 30 June 2020 for Amber Zone 1 and 2 remain in force:
The following Amber Zone 1 exclusion periods remain in force:
- 25 November to 15 December 2019; and
- 3 March to 4 May 2020.
The following Amber Zone 2 exclusion period remains in force:
- 3 to 30 March 2020.

Those who hold an existing access permission under the Defence Force Regulations 1952 should contact the Woomera Test Range on (08) 8674 3370 or email: woomera.enquiries@defence.gov.au to discuss access to Amber Zone 1 or 2 during the upcoming exclusion periods.
Amber Zone exclusion periods for Financial Year 2020-21
Defence’s exclusion periods within Amber Zones 1 and 2 for the financial year 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021 will be available by 31 March 2020 at: https://www.defence.gov.au/bases-locations/sa/woomera . They will also be advised by email.

The exclusion periods affect new non-Defence users of the WPA subject to the WPA Rule 2014.
Existing non-Defence users of the WPA, including mines subject to a deed of access, pastoral lease holders and Aboriginal persons and traditional owners, may continue to operate under their current access arrangements, including evacuation from the WPA for Defence testing as required.
Defence will undertake regular monitoring to ensure there is no unauthorised access into the access zones during an exclusion period.
