COVID19 and how it relates to Maralinga Tours

The virus COVID19 outbreak and it’s consequences are far-reaching and will be more than just an inconvenience. We are sorry to announce that all April 2020 tours have been cancelled, all fees paid will be refunded.

An official statement from the Maralinga-Tjarutja management says:

As of Monday 16th March 2020, all non-essential travel to Maralinga Tjarutja Lands / permit applications will not be approved.

Maralinga Tour season which opens on 1 April will be postponed until May 4th 2020. In this period, the tour season options will be reviewed and subject to status of COVID 19, possibly cancelled.

Discussions relating to COVID 19 are occurring regularly with State Government, Aboriginal Health Council SA, APY and the Oak Valley Health Service.

Thank you for your understanding in the matter.

In the interests of protecting vulnerable people in our communities, our tour guides and village managers, as well as our tour participants and and their fellow travellers, this has been extended to the Maralinga Tour operations for the month of April and potentially further, depending on future developments.

This was not an easy decision to make and we are extremely sorry for any inconvenience that this will impose on our travellers. As mentioned, all fees for the cancelled month will be refunded and hopefully you will re-book if you are able to re-schedule.

Alternatively, if you would like to move your current booking to later in the year please contact me (Tim Froling) on 0427 581 341 to reschedule.

I will be attempting to contact people personally that have booked for April and arranging a course of action for each, over the next couple of days.

Again, thank you for your understanding in the matter.

Please contact for more info or to discuss.
